Appearance: Hermione is a slender woman with an average height and fair complexion. She has brown eyes and curly locks of brown hair reaching just past her shoulders. She sometimes styles and straightens it into a bun for special occasions, but usually just lets it hang in its usual state.

Her wardrobe usually consists of sweaters and jackets of many colors from lively pink to plain khaki or brown. This usually tops off a pair of jeans. She only wears a skirt or dress whenever she dresses up for fancy occasions or when required to by Hogwarts uniform policy.
Personality: Despite first impressions, Hermione is by no means a cold hearted person. In fact, by nature, she's actually a kind and compassionate person. She just has a desire to be the best and works hard toward that goal, often trampling people in the process. However, this approach for interaction often backfires for her, causing her to not have many friends at Hogwarts until Halloween of her First Year.

She's probably the most clever witch of her age, and she knows it. Thus, she has no problem answering a difficult question during class or in a conversation even if her answer isn't welcome. Nevertheless, she doesn't brag and takes any compliments she receives with a modest touch.

After going through so much with Harry and Ron, she's definitely one of the most loyal witches at Hogwarts. Ready to give up anything for her friends or family, Hermione can be counted on time and again to help in anyway possible no matter the situation. She's also the "level-headed" member of the trio, often bringing ideas or thoughts back into reality.

Whatever the task, Hermione tries to do her best. She has a tendency to try to do everything perfect and although it works sometimes, other times it makes her fail. She also likes to work with physical concepts like Ancient Runes over abstract concepts like Divination. Despite her choice in friends, she likes to stay within bounds of the rules, often making her the one that keeps her friends from going too far out of bounds.

Even though her nature outwardly is probably bookworm-like, Hermione likes to have fun and be with her friends, just like any other teenager. She's just more grounded and gets things done before having fun (not vice versa like Harry or Ron do!).
Abilities/Strengths: Hermione is able to focus at the task at hand and think things through rationally. Her determination is what brings her to the top of many of the wizarding world's standards. She also has an uncanny ability to get what she wants indirectly. She's very good at magic, mastering almost every spell thrown at her. The only spell she really has trouble with is conjuring a patronus because of its abstraction versus objection.

Weaknesses: Hermione is very idealistic, often standing up for badly treated races such as house elves. Thus, even though she is usually the leveled one, it's very easy for her to be crashed down into reality. Like Harry and Ron, her temper is easily ignited, often blinding her rational judgment.

As one who likes to plan out every detail, Hermione doesn't do well under time pressure and especially hates it when she's forced to wing-it. On the same token, she doesn't grasp more abstract concepts like patronuses and really can't fly a broom to save her life. Other than that, Hermione has a history of not being able to communicate a point across efficiently, often getting herself into trouble.

History: Born to two modest Muggle dentists in Britain, Hermione is an only child born as a witch. Like Harry, she was raised with Muggle traditions with Muggle stories like "Cinderella" and "Snow White" over Wizarding world stories such as "The Tale of the Three Brothers."

When she was eleven, Hermione fatefully received a letter via owl telling her that she was a witch and was invited to attend Hogwarts' School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. That Fall, she left both her normal Muggle schooling and her parents aboard the Hogwarts Express to begin her magical education.

At first, most students saw her as a cold-hearted bookworm, following the rules and showing off. However, after Harry and Ron saved her that Halloween, the boys saw past the exterior and saw that Hermione was actually kind and caring inside. From that moment on, the three became the best of friends and learned from each other. Even though she often chastised Harry and Ron for their "certain disregard for the rules" and their lack of organization, Hermione herself learned to better adapt to sudden changes and how to be openly friendly towards others.

From that day on, Hermione's fellow students could sense a change, not in her personality, but rather how she acted around others, giving her a much more amicable demeanor. In turn, she was much happier at the school and began to enjoy her days rather than simply working to prove herself academically, which she proved to be the best at time and again regardless.

Each year, Hermione helped her friends out both academically and supportively. Even though the "three musketeers" have had their share of fights, they've always made up. Whether it be to thwart Voldemort's latest plot or simply get revenge on Malfoy for a prank, the three were always able to overcome any hardships, with Hermione usually covering the technical side.

Hermione was in the summer preceding her Seventh Year at Hogwarts. She, Harry, and Ron were planning on dropping out of Hogwarts that year to help fulfill Dumbledore's wish of destroying Voldemort's Horcruxes. After sending her parents off to Australia with their memories altered, Hermione packed her bag charmed with an Undetectable Extension Charm to meet the Order of the Phoenix, who planned on safely extracting Harry before the protective charm around his house wore off. After apparating with all of her immediate possessions, she found herself here, at Econtra.
